Dogs for Adoption

Our adoption fee for junveniles and adults is $350.00, pups 6 months and under is $450.00 (all fees are in Canadian dollars).  We hold seniors close to our hearts, the fee is negotiable.

Please complete an ONLINE APPLICATION if you are interested in any of these dogs and a rescue representative will be in touch with you.  (Please send an email follow up if you experience a delayed response.)

Please visit our sister site at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/BC11.html for videos of the dogs available for adoption.

We urgently require foster homes.  Fostering means you get to enjoy the company of a dog until a permanent home is found, during this time the dog's medical needs are met by TnT.  If this interests you, please complete the Adopt & Foster form to the left - thank you!

Roy is an incredibly sweet shar-pei, with a big fat face.  Good with other dogs and will make someone a special companion.  He is around four years old.

DinDin is a little fella looking for his forever family.  He is good with other dogs and as you can see quite handsome!

Notes from shelter:
Din Din is a 5 year old Shar- Pei that needs an experienced home. He is friendly with people and other dogs. He is a medium to high energy dog that needs about an hour of exercise a day. Din Din has a high prey drive and therefore would be best suited in a home without cats.

Din Din is a very sweet Shar- Pei that is looking for a loyal human to call his own.

Kimo has been living happily with a family of two boys, and another big dog since his adoption two years ago. Unfortunately the family is wishing to re-home Kimo due to personal issues.

He has done very well in this home and would love a home with a similar setting. The boys he lives with are 10 and up and the dog he lives with is a Mastiff Mix who he loves to play with.

Kimo is still a bit hesitant when meeting strangers but with slow introductions and your guidance becomes friends once properly introduced. This goes for doggie friends too. He was not socialized in his first year of life, he was a yard dog, chained outside with no human interaction, but has had a lot of help becoming social and will continue to be so with guidance.

Kimo has recently had entropian surgery for both eyes but does not have perfect vision, he likes to use his nose instead of his eyes a lot but is not impaired! However, his sight may get worse as he ages. Much like ours does! Other than that he is a big lug and healthy!

Simon is a cute little shar-pei mix, he is a younger fellow and very eager to please.  He is being looked after by the Duncan Spca.

Notes from one of Simon's friends...

Simon is medium size, he is very quick and quite muscular.  He has not had any basic obedience training so a beginners course would be the place to start with him.  He is learning to walk on leash, and can be a bit of a puller if people let him.  He has walked with other dogs but can be intimidating to them as he doesn't appear to have the best doggie manners which could get him into trouble.

He has started to see that volunteers and staff are "good" - they carry cookies and treats, and they take him for walks every day.  He would be best suited to an active home, with someone willing to take the time to train him.  He would excel at flyball or agility.   If possible, an only dog home would be best for him - in the beginning - while he is learning.

He was soo good today.  I was so proud of him.  He walked along quite nicely.  We have been doing the stop when he pulls and wait.   He also waited when I told him too, and he is starting to respond to people  He was quite interested in everything else before and hardly looked at the people.  Little steps but nice ones.

Beaurigard... here's a very handsome little guy ...

Update July 25 2010:
Beau goes home to his foster family today! More news to follow!

We don't have a lot of information on this fine fellow yet and are looking for a foster home for him to give us this valuable feedback.

Update July 18.10: Lu is continuing to spread her wings, she is meeting and spending time with different dogs and her socialization is continuing - we're very proud of her, she has come from a porch dog to a happy little pei!

Update July 6.10: Lu has been moved to a temporary foster home on a farm.  Her first day was spent out in the fields with her foster mother and a golden retriever doggie companion.  With all that space to run around in she got along quite well with her new buddy, but no small dogs please!

We do need a foster home to take Lu mid to end August as her farm foster is going away -

LuLu ... this gal is around 7 years old but still has lots of life and love to give.  LuLu has not been socialized for much of her life, and was living in a garage and on the porch.

She is very loving towards humans, and with some training would do very well on her walkies.  She is the queen of all she surveys and would do best as the only doggie in a home.

LuLu deserves a chance to have her own loving family after the way she has spent most of her life.  If you are looking for a sweet female companion LuLu is for you!

We are looking for a foster home for LuLu who can concentrate on helping her relearn doggie skills.  This can be best acheived if she is the only dog, and the family can concentrate on helping and training her.  The adoptive will have to be committed to training with Lu (which will be donated), as she has a high prey drive.

Coda is looking for a new home as her owner is moving overseas.

Coda is a little cutie! She's a petite little dog around 30 pounds, a slim, young girl who is in good health. Coda was fostered and then adopted last year after spending time in the Vancouver pound where she was found as a stray. She now needs to be re-homed as the young couple who adopted her have ill relatives in England to care for.

Coda's a smart little thing and has recently gone to training. She has been buddies with a little pug, and can be dominant when she meets other dogs, but has learned to improve in this area already. Coda would enjoy a yard to run around in. She's a bit more perky than your regular sloth like pei! Coda really loves people, and is very affectionate and likes a tummy rub.

New kid on the block -

Baloo currently residing in the interior.  He is a beautiful dilute boy with endearing cross eye.

Notes from TnT evaluator:
Baloo is a very sweet boy and I was quite impressed with him.  He has a beautiful light sand coloured coat and a charming personality. His eyes are a little cross-eyed, but if I had such gorgeous wrinkles on my nose, I'd probably be cross eyed too from trying to check out my wrinkles all day.  .

He had been playing in the yard for a bit, but I did try him on leash and it went well.  With consistency and training, I think it could easily be part of his daily routine.  When I first tried to get him to sit on command, he didn't, but when I brought out a treat he was happy to take a seat.  Selective pei.  :)

He seems to have a playful personality and was enjoying playing with his ball in the yard.  His energy level matches that of his younger age.  Apparently he does do well around horses as he was raised on a farm with horses.

Baloo's dad passed away and through no fault of his own he ended up in a shelter.  Let's help get this guy outta there!

ADOPTED! Coal is a very handsome lad...

"Hi, I'm Coal. I know my commands, sit wait, come, heel. I'm really good on leash walks and I love running too! I could run with you! I like female dogs and just need a good leader to show me how to be calm around hyper dogs. I'm sweet, handsome, goofy and really want to live with someone who will love and take care of me. Can I come home with you?"

Coal is a handsome guy and will be a wonderful pet.

The Handsome Beau -

Update July 18.10: Beau is now able to play with other dogs and enjoy himself, he has come such a long way and will make someone a very loving companion. One of our TnT volunteers has been tireless in her efforts to help Beau be all he can be, and she has succeeded.

Beau is a young male shar-pei mix about one year old. He is being fostered at the Richmond Animal Protection Society.

Beau is about 50 pounds right now, and looks like a shar-pei except for his exceptionally long ears!  He has grown into his body and is attending training classes with one of our volunteers.  He is extremely smart and would do well in just about any activity he is shown.

He is really enjoying his outings and training.

Dog experience and strong leadership skills are required for this little guy.

Beautiful Abbie .. lab x shar-pei female...  this wonderful girl is being fostered in the Calgary surrounds and would like to remain an Alberta gal.

Notes from Abbie's foster mom ....Abbie is definitely a great dog.  She helps me feed the horses every day, greeting new doggie boarders.

We take a nature walk every day and Abbie loves to run in the long grass and flush out the pheasants. . She is high energy and as long as she gets her exercise she is a very happy girl.  I've also gotten her to like being brushed, at first she was very afraid of the brush.

She is  afraid of the dark and would love to have a night lite..

Abbie's adoption fee is $200.00, she is spayed and up to date on all her shots.
