Update: Simon renamed to Kodi, has found
himself a wonderful home with an active family, what every little
doggie needs. Although this adoption was handled through the
Duncan Spca, we love happy stories and wanted to post his happy
ending. Kudos to Duncan who did a great job in rehabbing and
rehoming this young fellow.Notes from his
adoptive home:
He
still walks on his back legs and is indeed proving to be a good
climber – he enjoys a couple of good hikes in the bush each day and
has proven his ability to climb rocky faces and fallen trees.
Kodi
is also a charmer at my mother-in-law’s retirement home. He calmly
and politely meets all the old folks. He’s not upset by the
wheelchairs, walkers and strollers. He stands proudly while being
petted! And he also rides the elevator so very well!
Kodi
is a good dog and he’s working on becoming a great dog!
We’re looking forward to teaching him about camping and having him
join us on our annual trips to the Yukon.
Lovely comments on
a good start for this young fellow!

Simon is a cute little shar-pei mix, he is a
younger fellow and very eager to please.
He is being
looked after by the Duncan Spca.
Notes from one of Simon's friends...
Simon is medium size, he is very quick and quite muscular. He has not
had any basic obedience training so a beginners course would be the
place to start with him. He is learning to walk on leash, and can be
a bit of a puller if people let him. He has walked with other dogs
but can be intimidating to them as he doesn't appear to have the best
doggie manners which could get him into trouble.
He has started to see that volunteers and staff are "good" - they
carry cookies and treats, and they take him for walks every day. He
would be best suited to an active home, with someone willing to take
the time to train him. He would excel at flyball or agility. If
possible, an only dog home would be best for him - in the beginning -
while he is learning.
He was soo good today. I was so
proud of him. He walked along quite nicely. We have been doing
the stop when he pulls and wait. He also waited when I told him
too, and he is starting to respond to people He was quite
interested in everything else before and hardly looked at the
people. Little steps but nice ones.
