Update on beautiful Lucy...
Lucy would like to thank all the people who have helped
her to figure things
out: Sonya at
Richmond Animal Protection Society who first recognized Lucy's humans
as hers; Raylee Perkins at RocketDog who helped Lucy's foster humans
understand her better; Amanda Muir who helped Lucy have fun with her
foster brother Adrian Bullmastiff; Tayo the cat who agreed to shifts
so he could share his people with Lucy; Adrian Bullmastiff who showed
Lucy how to play and have her ears nibbled and agreed to lots of time
outs to help Lucy get used to all this canine fun; last but not least,
Lucy's foster parents who realized that after a whole year of watching
Lucy get happier and happier and less anxious and even pretty good
with people that they really couldn't live without her and all the
baby gates. They also gradually came to realize that rescue is a way
of life which changes people and helps them to differently understand
the precious gift of a new puppy who will never ever be abandoned in a
back yard for six years as Lucy was. They thank Joshua and Mac whose
passage into the spirit world created all this change in their lives
and helped Lucy to find her way home at last.

Lucy
is a warm, friendly, funny dog with her own family though she takes a
while to warm up to others. She loves to clown around and run laps
around our house and back yard. She’s very happy, healthy and
energetic —you’d never know she’s seven from her energy! She’s still
anxious around other dogs and definitely not a candidate for a
household with a cat (very high prey drive) or children as she can be
anxious in unpredictable situations.
Lucy
has come a long way in the year she’s been in foster care and she’s
definitely ready to be a loving companion for the right person. She’d
do best with her own fenced backyard and an adult household who will
enjoy her wonderful personality. Lucy is smart, learns quickly, is
fine on her own alone in the house while you go to work, and loves to
go for car rides.
As
Lucy spent her first six years alone in a back yard and was never
socialized around animals or people, she continues to learn about the
world but will probably never be comfortable with adult dogs and may
have issues with some men. Lucy is also very protective of her home
and will sound the alert when the front door opens and stop when
asked. She’s a brave guardian and loving companion: everything you’d
want in a beautiful Shar Pei.
